Connecting With Youth
Protecting Our Hunting Heritage By Reaching One Million Kids
In 2016, only 11.5 million people—5 percent of the U.S. population 16 years old and older—went hunting. And since the 1980s, participants in hunting have been declining.
This low participation rate is scary when you consider that, since 1937, hunters and target shooters have been the primary source of funding for wildlife conservation through license fees and an excise tax on sporting goods. If we don’t act now, the future of hunting and wildlife conservation in the United States is in jeopardy of being lost.
Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever are answering the call to do more to protect our hunting heritage by taking youth outreach efforts to new heights through the delivery of youth-mentored pheasant and quail hunts, youth-focused wing-shooting training, and youth habitat programs. Last year alone, these efforts provided hundreds of thousands of kids with conservation education and positive outdoor experiences. We can do much more, but we need your help and support!
Our goal in the next five years is to impact one million kids. To do this, we have developed a plan focused on Conservation Leadership, Hunting Heritage, Habitat and Land Stewardship, and Shooting Sports that requires us to raise millions of dollars in new funding. With your support, we can provide a child with a memorable experience they will cherish for the rest of their life for less than the cost of a gallon of gas in 1978.
To help us save the upland hunting tradition, we ask you to support Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever in the following ways:
- Make a donation today.
- Schedule an annual gift in support of our youth programs to help us reach our five-year goal of impacting one million kids.
- Remember Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever in your will or estate plan to provide the resources necessary to continue these efforts forever.
